FAQ

While the CrMS does encourage a couple to both be active participants in monitoring, maintaining and evaluating a woman’s reproductive health, the system can also be tailored to single women from the time of the onset of her first menstrual cycle until a woman hits menopause. Most CrMS users will tell you that they wish they had learned how to use the system when they were younger, and/or before they were married.

Yes, the CrMS is the most precise method currently available for identifying Peak time of fertility. This system helps a couple identify days of fertility and the timing of ovulation to better identify which days to have intercourse on. Just by this method alone, 20-40% of couples struggling with infertility can successfully achieve a pregnancy. Click here to learn more.

The CrMS is as effective, if not more effective, than all contraceptives in avoiding pregnancy. The effectiveness ranges from 96.8%-99.5%. These statistics are supported by decades of scientific research.

Yes! Did you know that PMS is not normal? You don’t have to live with PMS every month! We can review your chart and look for patterns that can identify potential causes of PMS, heavy periods, painful cramps, irregular spotting etc. Then you can seek further evaluation and treatment from a NaPro trained physician.

Yes! The CrMS can be tailor made to any woman, whether she has regular, short, long, irregular, or anovulatory cycles, is breastfeeding, or is in pre-menopause, etc. Once you learn how to chart your biological markers, you will be able to navigate irregular cycles with ease.

The CrMS is a standardized offspring of the Billings Ovulation Method.  Like the Billings method, the CrMS is an entire fertility care system. It is more than simply a method to avoid or achieve pregnancy. This already distinguishes the CrMS from most other natural methods out there. Most other methods rely on temperature observations or LH (hormone) testing. The CrMS is the most precise method currently available for identifying Peak time of fertility. Therefore, the CrMS relies solely on mucus observations, and has no need to incorporate tracking temperature, cervix, or hormone changes. There are a couple of other models that, like the CrMS, seek to work as a fertility care system, and are also based on cervical mucus observations. In short, these models were not created with a strong -family ethical foundation based on the natural law and teachings of the Catholic Church, nor are they supported by extensive decades of research or data to back their medical protocols or effectiveness. In addition, Creighton has an extensive 13 month training for it’s practitioners, while other practitioners and educators have a much more condensed training.

NaPro technology is a newly emerging women’s health science that seeks to evaluate and treat women for various gynecological or reproductive health issues, in a way that works cooperatively with how her body was designed. It relies on the CrMS to help identify what may be the underlying cause of various health issues. This new science developed through extensive research efforts from the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction.

No. While the CrMS system was created by the Pope Paul VI Institute (Catholic), the method is designed for use by any woman or couple, regardless of religious beliefs or affiliation.

It is possible for a woman to make observations about her fertility while on the pill. However, these observations would not be reliable indicators of her actual fertility and gynecological health. The observations she would have would be a result of the hormones in the pill, and not her naturally occurring hormones. If you are on a hormonal contraceptive for issues like PMS, heavy or painful periods, irregular bleeding etc. you should know that the birth control pill will only mask the symptoms. The birth control pill cannot provide treatment or help you find the root cause of your health issues. You deserve to know what is going on in your body and find a true solution, not a mere band aid fix. In addition, hormonal contraceptives are linked with a variety of serious and life-threatening conditions.
